When will I need to renew an India visa?
If you are visiting India on an e-Tourist Visa, e-Commerce Visa or e-Medical Visa, you need to comply with the visa conditions.
If you hold a 1-month tourist e-visa, you must leave India within 30 days. Thereafter, you can reapply online to get a new one. This is easy to do and processed quickly - you will receive your new visa within 1-4 days of applying.
Travelers with a 1-year tourist e-visa can visit India multiple times and stay for up to 90 or 180 days, depending on their nationality. When the year is up, the visa will expire. There is no need to renew it; simply apply for a new one through the India Immigration Services website.
The same applies to those holding e-visas for business, medical or healthcare providers. Once the visa expires, apply online. Foreigners residing or studying in India who need to renew their work, residence, or student visas should ensure they apply for an extension in a timely manner. You must apply at least 60 days before your visa expires.
