In 2014, the Indian government established an electronic visa for many foreign individuals, including Georgian passport holders.

The purpose of the India e-Visa is to make the visa application process easier for tourists who want to have a short visit to India. Applicants no longer have to wait in huge lines at the embassy to obtain an Indian visa.

You may get an e-Visa for India in a matter of minutes if you are a citizen of Georgia and all you have to do is fill out a short and straightforward electronic form online. Types of India visa for Georgian citizens

1. Types of India e-Visa for Georgian citizens

For Georgians, there are four types of India e-Visas to choose from:

  • Indian e-Tourist Visa: This tourist visa allows Georgian citizens to stay for up to 30 days from their arrival date. Any changes or additions to this type will be rejected.
  • From 16 March 2022, you can use 2 other types of e-tourist visas in case you wish to stay in India longer, including India 1 year e-tourist visa and India 5 years e-tourist visa. They can be used for many purposes such as tourism, participation in a short-term yoga program, enrollment in short-term courses in local languages, or voluntary work (not exceeding one month). With these e-tourist multiple entry visas, you are allowed to stay in the country for 365 days (for a 1-year e-tourist visa) and up to 5 years (for a 5-year e-tourist visa) from the date of ETA issuance. However, you cannot stay continuously for over 90 days for each visit.
  • Indian e-Business visa: This type is solely necessary for business or trading, not for employment purposes. This visa grants multiple entries with a total stay of 365 days with each stay should not exceed 180 days.
  • Indian e-Conference visa: With this type of e-visa, Georgians can go to a conference in India that is being put on by an Indian government ministry. Visitors can stay in India for up to 30 days from their arrival date with this type of e-Visa.
  • Indian e-Medical visa & Medical Attendant: This visa allows patients to seek medical treatment or for Georgian citizens accompanying them in India. It is a triple entry visa that allows a consecutive stay of 60 days per entry.

Georgian citizens who wish to visit India for other purposes or stay for an extended period are ineligible for the India e-Visa. Instead, they must apply for a visa at the Indian embassy in Georgia.

2. India visa requirements for Georgian citizens

The online India visa requirements for Georgian citizens require applicants to have the following documents on hand when submitting an electronic form:

  • Georgian passport having at least 6 months validity from the date of arrival in India and at least 2 blank pages
  • A scan of the passport page showing their passport number
  • A passport-style photo of yours

There are also variable supplementary documents that must be uploaded based on the type of e-Visa for India that the Georgian applicant requires:

  • An invitation letter from the organizer and Political clearance from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Government of India ( Indian e-Conference visa application only).

3. Application steps for the India e-Visa as Georgian citizens

To apply for an India e-Visa from Georgia, you must complete four simple steps:

  • Fill out the information for e-Visa
  • Complete the electronic form with your basic personal information, passport information, and trip details.
  • Examine all the information you provided in step one before proceeding with the payment.
  • Get the confirmation of your order via email address.

Georgian citizens should follow a 4 step process and make sure all the information provided is correct. Even slight inaccuracies in the data submitted might result in delays in processing or even denial of an Indian e-Visa requested by Georgian applicants.

4. India e-Visa fee and payment method for Georgian citizens

To complete an e-Visa application for Georgian citizens, applicants must pay two types of India e-Visa fees: the government fee and the service fee. In addition, Georgian citizens can purchase COVID-19 insurance in case they need to keep their benefits while going abroad.

Because Georgia is not on India's exemption list, the government fee is included in the total fee.
