You cannot apply for an e-Visa if you are already in India. Before traveling to India, you must apply for an e-Visa.
The Indian e-Visa is a type of electronic travel permission that permits people from selected countries to enter India for tourist, business, or medical reasons. It is a quick and easy option to obtain an Indian visa because it can be applied for online and does not involve a visit to an Indian embassy or consulate.

You can apply for an e-Visa on the Indian Immigration Services website once you have satisfied the eligibility conditions. The application procedure is simple and takes only a few minutes to complete.
You will get an electronic travel authorization (ETA) by email after your e-Visa application has been granted. When traveling to India, you must print the ETA and keep it with you. When you arrive at an Indian port of entry, you must show the immigration official your ETA, passport, and other needed documentation.
If you are already in India and need to extend your visa, you must go to your local Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO). Depending on your nationality and the kind of visa you hold, the FRRO can extend your visa for up to a specified number of days.
