What is a double entry visa in India?
A double-entry visa allows non-Indian citizens to enter India twice during the visa’s validity. This visa is commonly issued for tourism, business, or medical treatment.
Some types of double-entry visas are mainly available for travelers:
- 30-day e-tourist Visa (allows two entries within 30 days)
- e-Medical Visa (allows triple entry, not double)
- e-Business Visa (multiple-entry, not double)
For a successful application, the candidate should have the following documents prepared:
Passport:
The passport should be valid for at least six months beyond the specified trip dates and have at least two blank pages. All prior passports (or verified copies of lost passports) should also be submitted.
Identification:
For most applicants, a valid passport is the primary document. NID or Birth certificates is usually required for minors or specific cases.
Photo:
Recent color images (no more than three months old) in 2x2 inch format (or 350x350 pixels) are required. Full head and shoulders should be seen on a white backdrop with no shadows, and scanned in JPEG format between 10KB and 300KB.
Proof of Address:
A copy of a recent utility bill (electricity, phone, gas, and water) from within the previous six months.
Financial Solvency:
For most tourist and business e-visas, proof of financial statement is not required. If you are applying for a long-term visa or for business purposes, bank statements may be required on a case-by-case basis.
Travel Itinerary:
For most travelers, onward travel is NOT required. It may be required for a Transit Visa but not for a tourist or business visa.
All of these documents should be electronically scanned ahead of time for quick online application.
