How many days are required to visit Jaisalmer?

Jaisalmer is a tiny enough town that you don't need to spend much time there to get the most out of it. If you're on a limited budget, you can do a fair bit in two days. We highly recommend spending 4 days if you can!

Even if you just have two days, there are plenty of things to do in Jaisalmer. There aren't many tourist attractions in Jaisalmer, so you'll be able to visit the majority of them despite your hectic schedule!

Day 1

Spend a few hours relaxing, then eat breakfast before exploring Jaisalmer's Fort, including the Jain Temple of Ranakpur. It's enjoyable to browse the little passageways or spend some time wandering right inside the walls, imagining what life would have been like hundreds of years ago when the fort was created.

Lunch in one of the fort's many eateries, followed by a moto-taxi to Gandisar Lake. Walk around the lake, see a few temples, then rent a paddle boat and spend an hour kayaking around the lake.

Day 2

After breakfast at your accommodation, visit the local market and see some of the stunning historic Havelis (mansions), including the Mandir Palace accommodation. Take a dip in the pool or simply meander around the historic hotel to get away from the city sounds.

Enjoy lunch on the hotel's patio beside the pool (with or without a swimsuit!).

After lunch, walk down the street to Natraj Restaurant (a Chai stand), then return to your accommodation to be picked up for your desert safari.

If you just have two days, you probably won't want to stay overnight, but no vacation to Jaisalmer is complete without spending some time on the dunes. You can still ride a camel across the dunes, have dinner cooked over a fire, and then take a jeep back to town.
