How to reach Uttarakhand?

Uttarakhand is well connected to the rest of India via air, road and train. Uttarakhand's nearest airport is Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun, which offers frequent flights from major cities including as Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore. If you're going by train, the major stations in Uttarakhand are Dehradun, Haridwar and Kathgodam.

Uttarakhand has a network of national roads that connects it to adjacent states such as Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Himachal Pradesh. You may either drive your own car or use a cab to explore the state at your leisure.

By Air

There are two domestic airports in Uttarakhand. The Jolly Grant Airport (DED) in Dehradun is 22 km from the city center. It is connected by nonstop flights from Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, and Chennai. Alliance Air, Indigo and Jet Airways offer commercial flights to and from Dehradun.

Pantnagar Airport (PGH) is a gateway to hill stations like as Nainital, Ranikhet and Almora. The distance between Jim Corbett National Park and Pantnagar Airport is approximately 120 kilometers.

By Train

Reaching Nainital or Dehradun by rail is the cheapest and perhaps the most convenient way to visit.  The train station at Kathgodam, 35 kilometers from Nainital, is the North East railroads' final stop. Kathgodam train station provides rail connections to Delhi, Dehradun and Howrah (Kolkata). Trains to Dehradun Railway Station arrive from Delhi, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh and Punjab. The Jan Shatabdi Express, Dehradun Express, Doon Express and Nanda Devi Express are prominent trains that serve Uttarakhand.

By Road

Visiting the hills in Uttarakhand is primarily for the enjoyment of the journey itself. The state has around 1,328 km of national roads and 1,543 kilometres of state highways. The Uttarakhand Transport Corporation operates around 1000 buses in and out of the state.

Haridwar and Rishikesh are connected to Delhi by NH 34, while NH 7 connects Dehradun with Badrinath. Highways 109 and 309 connect Nainital, Almora and Jim Corbett National Park. The projected Char Dham Highway will connect the four important pilgrimage sites in Uttarakhand. Taxi rentals are accessible at all main tourist attractions in Uttarakhand.
