Who can apply for an emergency visa for India?
Applicants who are eligible or authorized to apply for the Emergency Indian Visa:
- Foreign citizens with minor children, either the child's mother or father, have Indian citizenship.
- An Indian citizen is married to a foreign citizen.
- A single foreigner with tiny children who has an Indian passport.
- Students who are foreign citizens and one of their parents holds Indian citizenship.
- Service passport holders work in government international organizations in India, as well as accredited diplomatic posts and consulates.
- Foreign citizens of Indian descent who need to visit India due to an emergency family crisis, such as the loss of a close member or a serious sickness. For these reasons, foreign nationals of Indian ancestry are defined as those who already hold a passport and whose parents are or were of Indian descent.
- Foreign individuals who need to come to India for medical treatment (one attendant may accompany the patient).
- Foreign citizens are also eligible to apply for business, employment, and journalism positions. However, such candidates must get approval in advance by submitting the relevant documentation.
Important notice: Applicants are advised to wait for the approval of the Emergency Indian Visa before booking their tickets. Although you have a ticket booked, this does not guarantee that your emergency visa will be accepted, and you may lose money by booking the travel in advance.
