How to Take Photography for the India e-Visa?

For a successful e-visa application for India, it is vital to submit digital photographs that meet Indian e-visa Photo Requirements. Follow the steps below to capture a suitable image:

  • Find a well-lit room with a plain white or light-coloured background.
  • Remove any items that obscure your face, such as hats and glasses.
  • Make sure your face is not obscured by hair.
  • Stand about half a meter from the wall.
  • Face the camera directly and make sure the entire head is visible from the hairline to the chin.
  • Check for shadows in the background or on the face and eliminate red-eye.
  • Upload your photo during the e-visa application process.

Minors flying to India must submit a separate visa application with a digital image. Aside from providing an appropriate photo, foreign nationals must meet other requirements for an Indian e-Visa, such as having a passport valid for at least six months from the arrival date, a debit or credit card for fee payment, an active email address, and accurately filling out the e-Visa form with personal and passport information.

Additional documentation may be required for an e-Business or e-Medical visa. Errors in the application or failing to satisfy photo standards may result in the denial of the visa application, causing travel interruption.

Important Note: For the India e-Visa application, persons can supply either a color or black-and-white image, but the photograph must adequately portray the applicant's appearance, regardless of color type.

The Indian government allows both color and black-and-white shots, although color photos are preferred since they provide greater information and clarity. It is critical to underline that no changes should be made to the shot with computer software.
