Is one day enough for Agra?

Yes, one day is adequate to see the main sights in Agra, especially if your primary concentration is on the Taj Mahal and a few other important sites. Here's how to get the most out of your one-day vacation to Agra:

Key Attractions to Cover in One Day:

  • Taj Mahal: If you plan to visit the Taj Mahal, get up early in the morning. This will ensure that the monument is not overcrowded and that the lighting is good for taking pictures. It will take you around an hour and a half to investigate and take in the structure's splendor.
  • Agra Fort: After seeing the Taj Mahal, drive the ten minutes or so to Agra Fort, another UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore this medieval fort, which served as the Mughal emperors' primary home for a duration of one to two hours.
  • Mehtab Bagh: If you have time, go to Mehtab Bagh, which is the Taj Mahal's neighbor across the Yamuna River. The Taj Mahal can be seen beautifully from this garden, especially around sunset. About 30 to 45 minutes can be spent here.
  • Tomb of Itimad-ud-Daulah (Baby Taj): If you would want to view another stunning Mughal-era building, you could pay a brief visit to the Baby Taj. Even though the Taj Mahal sometimes overshadows this modest but exquisitely constructed monument, it is nevertheless worthwhile to visit if you have the time. Take a half hour to an hour and a half here.
